# Evernote vs Notepad

The clearest difference is ads: Evernote at none against Notepad's shown. Evernote also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (78K vs 64). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Evernote sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $13.95 per month and Notepad sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for Evernote against 4.3 for Notepad. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Evernote has 78K ratings behind it against 64, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 50% of Evernote's written reviews are positive against 33% of Notepad's.

Evernote ships an update weekly, Notepad every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
