# Evernote vs NoteEase

The clearest difference is monetization model: Evernote at free with in-app purchases against NoteEase's subscription. Evernote also leads on ratings volume (78K vs 67) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Evernote sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $13.95 per month and NoteEase sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.49 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for Evernote against 4.4 for NoteEase. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Evernote has 78K ratings behind it against 67, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 50% of Evernote's written reviews are positive against 42% of NoteEase's.

Evernote ships an update weekly, NoteEase monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
