# Starmap vs Star Map Tracker

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Starmap at 77% against Star Map Tracker's 29%. Starmap also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 months) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Star Map Tracker's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.0) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Starmap sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Star Map Tracker sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Star Map Tracker holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 4 and 1 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 77% of Starmap's written reviews are positive against 29% of Star Map Tracker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Starmap ships an update every 2 weeks, Star Map Tracker every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
