# IGN Entertainment vs Edge magazine

The clearest difference is ads: Edge magazine at none against IGN Entertainment's shown. Edge magazine also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). IGN Entertainment's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (20K vs 134). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IGN Entertainment sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Edge magazine sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for IGN Entertainment against 4.5 for Edge magazine. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: IGN Entertainment has 20K ratings behind it against 134, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 44% of IGN Entertainment's written reviews are positive against 45% of Edge magazine's.

IGN Entertainment ships an update every 9 days, Edge magazine every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
