Verdict
The clearest difference is price: ShoppingList at Free against Morse's $0.99. ShoppingList also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 weeks). Morse's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 27) and review sentiment (90% vs 72%). On rating, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
ShoppingList is free to download; Morse costs $0.99 up front. Morse sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and ShoppingList sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Morse against 4.6 for ShoppingList. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Morse has 1.1K ratings behind it against 27, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 90% of Morse's written reviews are positive against 72% of ShoppingList's.
Morse ships an update every 5 weeks, ShoppingList every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
