# KickMap NYC vs NY Subway

The clearest difference is price: NY Subway at Free against KickMap NYC's $2.99. NY Subway also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs every 2 months). KickMap NYC's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (464 vs 12). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

NY Subway is free to download; KickMap NYC costs $2.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

KickMap NYC holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: KickMap NYC has 464 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 95% of KickMap NYC's written reviews are positive against 100% of NY Subway's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

KickMap NYC ships an update every 2 months, NY Subway every 2 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
