# IM+ Instant Messenger vs E.

The clearest difference is rating: IM+ Instant Messenger at 3.6 against E.'s 2.1. IM+ Instant Messenger also leads on ads (none vs shown). E.'s advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and review sentiment (100% vs 69%). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IM+ Instant Messenger sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and E. sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

IM+ Instant Messenger holds the better App Store score, 3.6 against 2.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 8 and 7 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of IM+ Instant Messenger's written reviews are positive against 100% of E.'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

IM+ Instant Messenger ships an update every 5 weeks, E. every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
