# IM+ Instant Messenger vs Dual Messenger

The clearest difference is review sentiment: IM+ Instant Messenger at 69% against Dual Messenger's 13%. IM+ Instant Messenger also leads on ads (none vs shown). Dual Messenger's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 3.5) and monetization model (freemium vs subscription). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IM+ Instant Messenger sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Dual Messenger sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Dual Messenger holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dual Messenger has 270 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of IM+ Instant Messenger's written reviews are positive against 13% of Dual Messenger's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
