# IM+ Instant Messenger vs iMailG

The clearest difference is monetization model: iMailG at free with in-app purchases against IM+ Instant Messenger's subscription. iMailG also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). IM+ Instant Messenger's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (3.5 vs 3.2). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IM+ Instant Messenger sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and iMailG sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

IM+ Instant Messenger holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 3.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 10 and 17 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of IM+ Instant Messenger's written reviews are positive against 71% of iMailG's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

IM+ Instant Messenger ships an update every 5 weeks, iMailG every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
