# IM+ Instant Messenger vs Bantar

The clearest difference is rating: Bantar at 5.0 against IM+ Instant Messenger's 3.5. Bantar also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). IM+ Instant Messenger's advantage is ratings volume (10 vs 2). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IM+ Instant Messenger sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Bantar sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Bantar holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: IM+ Instant Messenger has 10 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

IM+ Instant Messenger ships an update every 5 weeks, Bantar every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
