# IM+ Instant Messenger vs Telegram Messenger

The clearest difference is monetization model: Telegram Messenger at free with in-app purchases against IM+ Instant Messenger's subscription. Telegram Messenger also leads on rating (4.0 vs 3.5) and ratings volume (285K vs 10). IM+ Instant Messenger's advantage is review sentiment (69% vs 34%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IM+ Instant Messenger sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Telegram Messenger sells 19 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Telegram Messenger holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Telegram Messenger has 285K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of IM+ Instant Messenger's written reviews are positive against 34% of Telegram Messenger's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

IM+ Instant Messenger ships an update every 5 weeks, Telegram Messenger every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
