# Calc vs Calc Pro HD

The clearest difference is rating: Calc Pro HD at 4.7 against Calc's 3.9. Calc Pro HD also leads on ratings volume (1.5K vs 28) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.6). Calc's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Calc sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Calc Pro HD sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Calc Pro HD holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Calc Pro HD has 1.5K ratings behind it against 28, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 81% of Calc's written reviews are positive against 89% of Calc Pro HD's.

Calc ships an update every 2 months, Calc Pro HD every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
