# Solitaire vs Vertical Solitaire

The clearest difference is ads: Vertical Solitaire at none against Solitaire's shown. Vertical Solitaire also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 69%) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Solitaire's advantage is ratings volume (75K vs 9) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Solitaire sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Vertical Solitaire sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Solitaire against 4.9 for Vertical Solitaire. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Solitaire has 75K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 69% of Solitaire's written reviews are positive against 100% of Vertical Solitaire's.

Solitaire ships an update every 2 months, Vertical Solitaire every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
