# SugarSync vs Sync

The clearest difference is rating: Sync at 3.7 against SugarSync's 3.2. Sync also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months). SugarSync's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 11) and review sentiment (81% vs 50%). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sync sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. SugarSync asks for nothing beyond the download.

Sync holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 109 and 26 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 81% of SugarSync's written reviews are positive against 50% of Sync's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SugarSync ships an update every 5 months, Sync every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
