# Simplenote vs Memossage

The clearest difference is rating: Simplenote at 4.7 against Memossage's 3.7. Simplenote also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (4.3K vs 3). Memossage's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and review sentiment (100% vs 86%). On price, update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Simplenote sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Memossage asks for nothing beyond the download.

Simplenote holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Simplenote has 4.3K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Simplenote's written reviews are positive against 100% of Memossage's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Simplenote ships an update fortnightly, Memossage monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
