# Simplenote vs Nudge

The clearest difference is monetization model: Simplenote at free against Nudge's freemium. Simplenote also leads on ratings volume (4.3K vs 1). Nudge's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Simplenote sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month and Nudge sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Nudge holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Simplenote has 4.3K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Simplenote ships an update fortnightly, Nudge every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
