# Geocaching Toolkit iGCT vs GeoCaches

The clearest difference is rating: GeoCaches at 4.4 against Geocaching Toolkit iGCT's 2.8. GeoCaches also leads on ratings volume (1.1K vs 19) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 7 months). Geocaching Toolkit iGCT's advantage is review sentiment (78% vs 37%) and in-app purchases (none vs 3). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GeoCaches sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Geocaching Toolkit iGCT asks for nothing beyond the download.

GeoCaches holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GeoCaches has 1.1K ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of Geocaching Toolkit iGCT's written reviews are positive against 37% of GeoCaches's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Geocaching Toolkit iGCT ships an update every 7 months, GeoCaches every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
