# Language Translator vs Flymaps

The clearest difference is rating: Flymaps at 4.2 against Language Translator's 2.6. Flymaps also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 13 months). Language Translator's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and review sentiment (47% vs 26%). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Flymaps sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Language Translator asks for nothing beyond the download.

Flymaps holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flymaps has 6.5K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 47% of Language Translator's written reviews are positive against 26% of Flymaps's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Language Translator ships an update every 13 months, Flymaps fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
