# Basic Math Deluxe vs Math Ref

The clearest difference is rating: Math Ref at 4.3 against Basic Math Deluxe's 4.0. Math Ref also leads on ratings volume (26 vs 2) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). Basic Math Deluxe's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 81%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Basic Math Deluxe costs $1.99 and Math Ref $1.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Math Ref holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Math Ref has 26 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Basic Math Deluxe's written reviews are positive against 81% of Math Ref's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Basic Math Deluxe ships an update every 3 months, Math Ref monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 25, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
