# LCD Clock vs Smart Widget

The clearest difference is price: Smart Widget at Free against LCD Clock's $1.99. Smart Widget also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (882 vs 12). LCD Clock's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.7 vs 4.3). On review sentiment, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Smart Widget is free to download; LCD Clock costs $1.99 up front. LCD Clock sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Smart Widget sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

LCD Clock holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Smart Widget has 882 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of LCD Clock's written reviews are positive against 67% of Smart Widget's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

LCD Clock ships an update every 7 months, Smart Widget every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
