# OpenTable vs Gyu

The clearest difference is ads: Gyu at none against OpenTable's shown. Gyu also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 26.0). OpenTable's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (5.6M vs 5.2K). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for OpenTable against 4.8 for Gyu. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OpenTable has 5.6M ratings behind it against 5.2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 75% of OpenTable's written reviews are positive against 79% of Gyu's.

OpenTable ships an update fortnightly, Gyu every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
