# ITmedia vs iM

The clearest difference is ads: iM at none against ITmedia's shown. iM also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). ITmedia's advantage is ratings volume (15 vs 2). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

iM holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ITmedia has 15 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 31% and 31% positive.

ITmedia ships an update every 3 months, iM monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
