# BPM vs BPM Counter & Detector

The clearest difference is review sentiment: BPM at 77% against BPM Counter & Detector's 27%. BPM Counter & Detector's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 3.3) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BPM sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and BPM Counter & Detector sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

BPM Counter & Detector holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BPM Counter & Detector has 551 ratings behind it against 34, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 77% of BPM's written reviews are positive against 27% of BPM Counter & Detector's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

BPM ships an update every 4 months, BPM Counter & Detector every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
