# Lufthansa vs Star Alliance

Lufthansa and Star Alliance both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 56% of Lufthansa's written reviews are positive against 13% of Star Alliance's. Lufthansa also leads on ratings volume (95K vs 81) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). Star Alliance's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Lufthansa against 4.8 for Star Alliance. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lufthansa has 95K ratings behind it against 81, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 56% of Lufthansa's written reviews are positive against 13% of Star Alliance's.

Lufthansa ships an update fortnightly, Star Alliance every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
