# Backgammon vs Backgammon AI

The clearest difference is ads: Backgammon AI at none against Backgammon's shown. Backgammon AI also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs every 5 months) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Backgammon's advantage is ratings volume (15K vs 18) and review sentiment (65% vs 43%). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backgammon sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Backgammon AI sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Backgammon holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backgammon has 15K ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 65% of Backgammon's written reviews are positive against 43% of Backgammon AI's.

Backgammon ships an update every 5 months, Backgammon AI every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
