# Focalware vs ShadowCat Album

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Focalware at none against ShadowCat Album's 3. Focalware also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.6). ShadowCat Album's advantage is update cadence (every 11 days vs every 12 months) and review sentiment (100% vs 73%). On price, ratings volume, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ShadowCat Album sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Focalware asks for nothing beyond the download.

Focalware holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 6 and 3 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of Focalware's written reviews are positive against 100% of ShadowCat Album's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Focalware ships an update every 12 months, ShadowCat Album every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
