# TMZ vs Hollywood Weekly

The clearest difference is ads: Hollywood Weekly at none against TMZ's shown. Hollywood Weekly also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). TMZ's advantage is ratings volume (215K vs 1) and chart position (#137 vs unranked). On price, rating and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Hollywood Weekly holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TMZ has 215K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

TMZ ships an update monthly, Hollywood Weekly weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
