# TMZ vs DR E

The clearest difference is review sentiment: DR E at 100% against TMZ's 62%. DR E also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). TMZ's advantage is ratings volume (213K vs 28) and update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

TMZ holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TMZ has 213K ratings behind it against 28, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of TMZ's written reviews are positive against 100% of DR E's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

TMZ ships an update monthly, DR E every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
