# TMZ vs TODAY Show

The clearest difference is update cadence: TMZ at monthly against TODAY Show's every 2 months. TMZ also leads on ratings volume (213K vs 29K) and device support (5 vs 3). TODAY Show's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for TMZ against 4.8 for TODAY Show. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TMZ has 213K ratings behind it against 29K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 62% of TMZ's written reviews are positive against 68% of TODAY Show's.

TMZ ships an update monthly, TODAY Show every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 17, 2026.
