# TMZ vs Horrid Headlines

The clearest difference is ratings volume: TMZ at 214K against Horrid Headlines's 23. TMZ also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months) and chart position (#144 vs unranked). Horrid Headlines's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for TMZ against 4.7 for Horrid Headlines. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TMZ has 214K ratings behind it against 23, so its average is the more settled of the two.

TMZ ships an update monthly, Horrid Headlines every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
