# TMZ vs Mining Insider

The clearest difference is ads: Mining Insider at none against TMZ's shown. Mining Insider also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). TMZ's advantage is ratings volume (215K vs 1) and chart position (#115 vs unranked). On price, rating, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Mining Insider holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TMZ has 215K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

TMZ ships an update monthly, Mining Insider every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
