# CCEL Devotional Bible vs Expositor's Bible Commentary

The clearest difference is rating: Expositor's Bible Commentary at 4.8 against CCEL Devotional Bible's 3.3. Expositor's Bible Commentary also leads on ratings volume (218 vs 4). CCEL Devotional Bible's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (68% vs 50%). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CCEL Devotional Bible sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Expositor's Bible Commentary sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Expositor's Bible Commentary holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Expositor's Bible Commentary has 218 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of CCEL Devotional Bible's written reviews are positive against 50% of Expositor's Bible Commentary's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 4 months. Both last shipped on October 23, 2026.
