# Ballistic vs Pistol Shot Timer

The clearest difference is rating: Pistol Shot Timer at 3.5 against Ballistic's 1.0. Pistol Shot Timer also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15). Ballistic's advantage is update cadence (every 3 months vs every 13 months) and ratings volume (54 vs 13). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ballistic sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Pistol Shot Timer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pistol Shot Timer holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 1.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 54 and 13 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Ballistic's written reviews are positive against 50% of Pistol Shot Timer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Ballistic ships an update every 3 months, Pistol Shot Timer every 13 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
