# Air NZ vs Translink On Demand

The clearest difference is ads: Translink On Demand at none against Air NZ's shown. Translink On Demand also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). Air NZ's advantage is ratings volume (12K vs 2) and review sentiment (44% vs 33%). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Translink On Demand holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Air NZ has 12K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of Air NZ's written reviews are positive against 33% of Translink On Demand's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
