# Piano vs Piano Sim

The clearest difference is ads: Piano at none against Piano Sim's shown. Piano also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Piano Sim's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 12 months) and ratings volume (9 vs 1). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Piano sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Piano Sim sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Piano against 4.9 for Piano Sim. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Piano Sim has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Piano ships an update every 12 months, Piano Sim every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
