# Megaphone vs Sound Amplifier

The clearest difference is rating: Sound Amplifier at 4.6 against Megaphone's 2.8. Sound Amplifier also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months). Megaphone's advantage is review sentiment (52% vs 34%) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Megaphone sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Sound Amplifier sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sound Amplifier holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 593 and 1.3K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Megaphone's written reviews are positive against 34% of Sound Amplifier's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Megaphone ships an update every 3 months, Sound Amplifier every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
