# Chess vs Interactive Chess Books

The clearest difference is monetization model: Interactive Chess Books at free against Chess's paid. Interactive Chess Books also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (every 4 months vs every 9 months). Chess's advantage is ratings volume (200 vs 2). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Interactive Chess Books holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7.
