# Carpentry Formulator vs WoodPicker

The clearest difference is rating: Carpentry Formulator at 3.8 against WoodPicker's 3.0. Carpentry Formulator also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). WoodPicker's advantage is review sentiment (42% vs 25%) and ratings volume (33 vs 4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Carpentry Formulator sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and WoodPicker sells 13 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Carpentry Formulator holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WoodPicker has 33 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Carpentry Formulator's written reviews are positive against 42% of WoodPicker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Carpentry Formulator ships an update every 2 months, WoodPicker monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and September 18, 2026 respectively.
