# SimpleMind vs Genogram Creator

The clearest difference is monetization model: SimpleMind at free with in-app purchases against Genogram Creator's subscription. SimpleMind also leads on rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and review sentiment (77% vs 50%). Genogram Creator's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SimpleMind sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Genogram Creator sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $49.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SimpleMind holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SimpleMind has 981 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 77% of SimpleMind's written reviews are positive against 50% of Genogram Creator's.

SimpleMind ships an update every 2 months, Genogram Creator every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
