# Minesweeper Classic vs Classic Words

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Classic Words at 67% against Minesweeper Classic's 39%. Classic Words also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). Minesweeper Classic's advantage is ratings volume (3.1K vs 17) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Minesweeper Classic sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year and Classic Words sells 8 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Minesweeper Classic holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Minesweeper Classic has 3.1K ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 39% of Minesweeper Classic's written reviews are positive against 67% of Classic Words's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Minesweeper Classic ships an update every 3 months, Classic Words monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
