# BrainWave vs Shift Robotics

The clearest difference is price: Shift Robotics at Free against BrainWave's $5.99. Shift Robotics also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (100% vs 90%). BrainWave's advantage is ratings volume (11K vs 35) and chart position (#11 vs unranked). On rating, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Shift Robotics is free to download; BrainWave costs $5.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

BrainWave holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BrainWave has 11K ratings behind it against 35, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 90% of BrainWave's written reviews are positive against 100% of Shift Robotics's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

BrainWave ships an update every 2 months, Shift Robotics every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on November 8, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
