# Tapatalk vs CivicX Forum

The clearest difference is review sentiment: CivicX Forum at 100% against Tapatalk's 49%. CivicX Forum also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.4) and in-app purchases (none vs 10). Tapatalk's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 15 months) and ratings volume (16K vs 3). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tapatalk sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $0.49 per month. CivicX Forum asks for nothing beyond the download.

CivicX Forum holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tapatalk has 16K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 49% of Tapatalk's written reviews are positive against 100% of CivicX Forum's.

Tapatalk ships an update every 2 weeks, CivicX Forum every 15 months. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
