# YouMail vs ShieldGPS

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: ShieldGPS at none against YouMail's 10. ShieldGPS also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). YouMail's advantage is ratings volume (100K vs 20) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. YouMail sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. ShieldGPS asks for nothing beyond the download.

ShieldGPS holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: YouMail has 100K ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two.

YouMail ships an update fortnightly, ShieldGPS every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
