# WordWeb Dictionary vs Urban Dictionary

WordWeb Dictionary and Urban Dictionary both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 90% of WordWeb Dictionary's written reviews are positive against 39% of Urban Dictionary's. Urban Dictionary's advantage is ratings volume (3.5K vs 270) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for WordWeb Dictionary against 4.5 for Urban Dictionary. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Urban Dictionary has 3.5K ratings behind it against 270, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 90% of WordWeb Dictionary's written reviews are positive against 39% of Urban Dictionary's.

WordWeb Dictionary ships an update every 5 months, Urban Dictionary every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
