# OpenRice vs Ramen Map

The clearest difference is rating: OpenRice at 4.1 against Ramen Map's 2.7. OpenRice also leads on ratings volume (88 vs 6). Ramen Map's advantage is review sentiment (63% vs 29%) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

OpenRice holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OpenRice has 88 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of OpenRice's written reviews are positive against 63% of Ramen Map's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

OpenRice ships an update fortnightly, Ramen Map every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
