# Dial Plate vs xREL

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Dial Plate at none against xREL's 3. Dial Plate also leads on ratings volume (95 vs 2) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.6). xREL's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 75%) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 9 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. xREL sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Dial Plate asks for nothing beyond the download.

Dial Plate holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dial Plate has 95 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Dial Plate's written reviews are positive against 100% of xREL's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Dial Plate ships an update every 9 months, xREL every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 23, 2026.
