# Chess ∙ vs 中国象棋™

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Chess ∙ at none against 中国象棋™'s 5. Chess ∙ also leads on ratings volume (207K vs 506) and chart position (#57 vs unranked). 中国象棋™'s advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 4 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 中国象棋™ sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Chess ∙ asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Chess ∙ against 4.6 for 中国象棋™. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chess ∙ has 207K ratings behind it against 506, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 56% of Chess ∙'s written reviews are positive against 46% of 中国象棋™'s.

Chess ∙ ships an update every 4 months, 中国象棋™ every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
