# Swiss Pro Map vs Hiking Map Schweiz

The clearest difference is rating: Hiking Map Schweiz at 4.3 against Swiss Pro Map's 1.0. Hiking Map Schweiz also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ratings volume (3 vs 1). Swiss Pro Map's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 10 months) and review sentiment (34% vs 25%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Swiss Pro Map sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per year and Hiking Map Schweiz sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 3 months. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Hiking Map Schweiz holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 1.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1 and 3 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 34% of Swiss Pro Map's written reviews are positive against 25% of Hiking Map Schweiz's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Swiss Pro Map ships an update fortnightly, Hiking Map Schweiz every 10 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
