# U vs Spectrum Access

U and Spectrum Access both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 76% of Spectrum Access's written reviews are positive against 14% of U's. U's advantage is ratings volume (390K vs 150). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

U holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: U has 390K ratings behind it against 150, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 14% of U's written reviews are positive against 76% of Spectrum Access's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

U ships an update every 3 months, Spectrum Access every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
