# iPrivateBrowser vs Proxy

The clearest difference is price: iPrivateBrowser at Free against Proxy's $2.99. iPrivateBrowser also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 3 months). Proxy's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 3.9) and in-app purchases (none vs 1). On review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

iPrivateBrowser is free to download; Proxy costs $2.99 up front. iPrivateBrowser sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Proxy asks for nothing beyond the download.

Proxy holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Proxy has 77 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 31% of iPrivateBrowser's written reviews are positive against 28% of Proxy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

iPrivateBrowser ships an update every 2 months, Proxy every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
